How Our Repair Service Works – From Anywhere in Europe

Your ProSharp sharpener needs a specialist, but our workshop is in Budapest and you are in Vienna, Prague, Stockholm or Kraków. Is it really worth sending the machine? For many of our customers, the answer is yes – and the process is much simpler than it sounds.

Clubs, rinks, skate shops and webshops from all over Europe send their ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC and AS1001 Portable-SC machines to ProSharp Service. They get specialist work from a team with more than 20 years of experience, original parts from our own stock and a price that is often lower than manufacturer service at home. This page explains every step – from your first email to the moment your sharpener is back in use.

The Process at a Glance

  • 1. Email us – model, problem, photos and your country
  • 2. Get our reply – first advice and instructions for sending
  • 3. Pack and ship – the machine travels to our Budapest workshop
  • 4. Condition assessment – we check the whole machine
  • 5. Individual quote – you approve before any work starts
  • 6. Repair and test – using parts from our own stock
  • 7. Return – your machine comes back ready to use

Step 1 – Email Us With the Details

Everything starts with an email to info@prosharpservice.com. Our team communicates in English, and email works best: you can write in your own time, attach photos and videos, and you will have the whole conversation in writing – useful when a machine travels across borders.

Please include:

  • Your machine model – AS2001 Allpro-SC or AS1001 Portable-SC – and the serial number if you have it
  • What the problem is – what you notice, when it started and whether it is getting worse
  • Photos or a short video – of the machine, the affected area and, if relevant, a sharpened blade
  • What you would like – a repair, a full service or maintenance
  • Your country and city – so we can advise on shipping
  • Any deadline – for example the start of the season or an important tournament

Don’t worry if you can’t describe the problem technically. Tell us what you see and hear – that is what we need.

Step 2 – Our Reply and First Advice

We read your description, look at your photos and reply with our first assessment and the next steps. Sometimes the problem is clear enough that a spare part alone will solve it – then you may not need to send the machine at all, and we can send you the part instead. ProSharp spare parts

If the machine needs to come to our workshop, we confirm the delivery address and explain how to pack and send it. Please wait for our reply before shipping, so we know your machine is coming and can match it to your request when it arrives.

Step 3 – Pack and Ship Your Machine

How to pack your sharpener safely

Good packing protects your machine and avoids transport damage. We recommend:

  • Clean the machine and remove loose grinding dust before packing
  • Disconnect and secure the cable so it cannot pull on the plug during transport
  • Use the original box or transport case if you still have it – especially for the portable AS1001
  • Otherwise use a sturdy box with plenty of padding on all sides, so the machine cannot move
  • Protect sensitive parts such as the skate holder and covers with extra padding
  • Remove or secure loose accessories, and tell us what you have included
  • Add a note inside the box with your name, email, machine model and a short description of the problem
  • Take photos of the packed machine before you close the box – useful in case of transport damage

Shipping options

Sharpeners can be sent by courier or parcel service; larger stationary machines may travel on a small pallet. We will explain the options for your country and machine when we reply to your email.

We recommend a tracked and insured shipment, so you can follow your machine and are covered if anything happens on the way.

Customers in and around Budapest

If you are nearby, you are welcome to bring the machine to our workshop at Nefelejcs utca 16., 1161 Budapest, and collect it after the repair. Please contact us first to agree on a time.

Step 4 – Condition Assessment

When your machine arrives, we let you know and our technicians carry out a thorough condition assessment. We don’t only look at the problem you described: we check the machine as a whole – grinding unit, skate holder and alignment, drive, dust extraction and electrical components.

Why the whole machine? Because one worn part often puts strain on others, and a repair that ignores the rest of the machine is a repair you would need again soon. For a machine that has travelled across Europe, it also makes sense to fix everything important in one go.

Step 5 – Your Individual Quote

Based on the assessment, you receive an individual price offer by email. It explains:

  • What we found
  • What we recommend repairing or replacing – and why
  • What can wait, if something is worn but not yet critical
  • The price of the work and parts
  • The estimated time until the machine is ready to be returned

No work starts without your approval. You can approve the full quote, choose only the most urgent items, or ask us questions first. If you decide not to go ahead, we will tell you how the machine is returned.

Step 6 – Repair, Service and Testing

After your approval, our technicians carry out the work. Because we keep our own supply of spare parts, the repair can usually start straight away – there is no waiting for parts to be ordered and delivered.

Before the machine leaves the workshop, we test it to make sure it works as it should. If you asked for a full service, the machine is also cleaned, checked and adjusted throughout. You can read more about what our repairs and full service include here: Repair and full service

Step 7 – Payment and Return

When the work is complete, we let you know and send the invoice. Payment terms and methods are explained in the quote. The machine is then carefully packed and sent back to you – or ready for collection if you are in Budapest.

When it arrives, unpack it, set it up on a stable surface and sharpen a test blade before you start working. If anything is unclear, just email us.

Sending Several Machines?

Clubs, rink operators and shop chains often have more than one ProSharp machine. You can send them together or one after another – whatever suits your schedule. Sending them together saves on shipping and lets us plan the work in one go; sending them one at a time means you always have a working sharpener. Tell us how many machines you have and when you can do without them, and we will help you choose the best approach.

What If Something Is Damaged in Transport?

With careful packing, transport damage is rare – but it is good to be prepared. That is why we recommend a tracked and insured shipment and photos of the packed machine before sending. When your machine arrives, we check the packaging and the machine, and if we see transport damage, we tell you straight away and document it with photos, so you can make a claim with the carrier. We take the same care when packing your machine for the return trip.

Communication – in English, by Email

Our team speaks English. For customers outside Hungary, email is the most reliable way to work with us:

  • You can describe the problem calmly, in your own time
  • Photos and videos can be attached directly
  • The quote, the approval and all agreed details are in writing
  • Nothing gets lost in translation on a phone call

You are also welcome to call us on +36 20 932 4212, but please follow up important details by email.

Planning Around Your Season

Shipping adds time, so planning ahead pays off. The best moment to send a machine for service is when you can manage without it – in the off-season, or a few weeks before the season starts. Clubs with several machines often send them one at a time, so a sharpener is always available.

If something breaks in the middle of the season, tell us about any deadline in your first email. We will do our best to plan the assessment, quote and return around it.

Is It Worth Sending a Machine to Budapest?

Our foreign customers keep coming back because the combination works:

  • Specialist work – the AS2001 and AS1001 are what we work on every day
  • Certified ProSharp repairer with more than 20 years of experience
  • Original parts from our own stock – faster repairs
  • Transparent quote – you know the price before any work starts
  • Often more affordable than manufacturer service in your own country, even with shipping
