Minor Faults or Major Problems – What We Repair
Skate sharpeners work hard. In a busy pro shop or rink, the machine runs for hours every day, the grinding wheel wears, dust builds up and moving parts gradually lose their precision. Portable machines face an extra challenge: they are packed, transported and set up again and again. Sooner or later, every machine needs a technician.
We repair both everyday faults and serious breakdowns, including:
- Inconsistent or uneven sharpening results – edges that differ from skate to skate or from one side of the blade to the other
- Skate holder and alignment problems – the blade is not held straight or the holder has play
- Grinding wheel and dressing issues – wear, imbalance or problems with dressing the wheel to the right profile
- Motor and drive faults – the machine does not start, loses power, overheats or stops during sharpening
- Unusual noise and vibration – often an early sign of worn bearings or loose components
- Weak dust extraction – clogged filters, damaged hoses or a fan that no longer pulls properly
- Electrical faults – switches, wiring and control components
- Wear and damage after years of heavy use or transport
Not sure what is wrong? That is completely fine. Describe what you notice – a sound, a change in results, a part that looks wrong – and send us a few photos or a short video. Our technicians will tell you what the likely cause is and what the next step should be.
Our Repair Process – Clear and Transparent
We follow the same five steps for every machine, whether it comes from a rink in Budapest or a club in Sweden. This way you always know where your machine is and what happens next.
Step 1 – You contact us
Send us an email with your machine model (AS2001 or AS1001), a short description of the problem and, if possible, photos or a video. If the issue is simple, we can sometimes tell you right away whether it is something a spare part will solve – which may save you sending the whole machine.
Step 2 – Condition assessment
Once your machine arrives at our Budapest workshop, we carry out a thorough condition assessment. We don’t only look at the part that failed: we check the machine as a whole, because one worn component often puts extra strain on others. A repair that ignores the rest of the machine is a repair you will need again soon.
Step 3 – Individual quote
Based on the assessment, you receive an individual price offer. It tells you what we found, what we recommend repairing and what it will cost. If something is worn but not yet critical, we tell you – and you decide whether to fix it now or later. No work starts without your approval.
Step 4 – Repair and full service
After your approval, our technicians carry out the repair using parts from our own stock. Because we don’t have to wait for parts to be delivered, the repair can begin as soon as you say yes.
Step 5 – Testing and return
Before your machine leaves the workshop, we test it to make sure it works as it should. Then it is packed and sent back to you – or collected, if you are nearby – ready to sharpen.
Sending a machine from abroad? We explain packing, shipping and the return in detail. How our repair service works
What a Full Service Includes
A repair fixes the problem you came with. A full service goes further: it brings the whole machine back to good working condition, so it is ready for another season of heavy use. A full service typically includes:
- Cleaning of the machine inside and out, removing built-up grinding dust
- Grinding unit check – wheel condition, mounting and balance
- Skate holder check and alignment – so the blade is held straight and secure
- Motor and drive check – bearings, belts and running behaviour
- Dust extraction check – filters, hoses and suction performance
- Electrical check – switches, cables and connections
- Replacement of worn parts – only after your approval
- Final test – the machine is run and checked before it is returned
A full service is the best choice for a machine that has run for a long time without attention, for a machine you have just bought second-hand, or simply before an important season. Many of our customers combine it with a regular maintenance plan afterwards. Regular maintenance
Repair or Replace? Why Repairing Usually Pays Off
When a sharpener breaks down after years of use, it is tempting to think it is time for a new one. In most cases, it is not. ProSharp machines are built to work for many years, and their main components can be serviced, adjusted or replaced individually. A professional repair usually costs only a fraction of a new machine – and brings it back to reliable working order.
Repairing also saves you the time it takes to choose, order and set up a new machine, and your staff can keep working with a sharpener they already know. The condition assessment helps you make the right decision: if a repair would not be worth it, we tell you honestly. Our goal is a sensible solution for your situation, not the biggest possible invoice.
Why Our Own Spare Parts Mean Faster Repairs
Waiting for parts is the most common reason repairs take long. A general workshop often has to identify the part, order it from the manufacturer or a distributor, and wait – sometimes for weeks – before work can continue. In the middle of the season, that can mean a month without sharpening.
We keep our own supply of spare parts for ProSharp machines. In most cases, the part your machine needs is already on the shelf in our workshop, so the repair can start as soon as you approve the quote. Original, high-quality parts also mean the repair lasts – there is no point in fitting a cheap part that wears out in a few weeks.
If you prefer to maintain your machine yourself, you can also order parts from us directly. ProSharp spare parts
ProSharp Models We Repair
We specialise in the two ProSharp models used most widely in pro shops, clubs and rinks. Each has its own page with model-specific information, and both are compared on our overview page. ProSharp machines overview
ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC
The AS2001 Allpro-SC is a stationary machine that is easy to use, cheap to maintain and built to function for many years. Because it is often the main sharpener of a shop or rink, it tends to run for long hours – and its condition directly affects how many skates you can sharpen and how good the results are. We repair, service and supply parts for the AS2001. AS2001 Allpro-SC repair and service
ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SC
The AS1001 Portable-SC is built for accurate and reliable sharpening on the move – at away games, tournaments and camps. Transport and repeated setup are hard on any precision machine, so the AS1001 benefits from regular checks of its alignment and mounting. We repair, adjust and supply parts for the AS1001. ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC
ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SCBought a Used ProSharp? Have It Checked Before You Start
Used ProSharp machines are popular, and for good reason: they are built to last. But a second-hand machine comes with an unknown history. It may have sharpened thousands of skates without a service, been stored in a damp place, or been damaged in transport. Some problems are not visible from the outside – until the machine starts producing poor edges or stops altogether.
A full service before you put a used machine to work tells you exactly what you have bought. We assess its condition, tell you what needs attention and what can wait, and bring it back to reliable working order. It is the safest way to protect your investment – and your customers’ skates.
Repairs for Customers Outside Hungary
We welcome repair orders from all over Europe. Clubs, rinks and shops from Austria, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Sweden, Finland and other countries send their machines to our Budapest workshop. Many of them have found that specialist work, original parts and a price that is often lower than manufacturer service at home make the shipment well worth it.
Our team communicates in English, and email is the best way to work with us. It lets you describe the problem in your own time, attach photos and videos, and keep a written record of the quote and the agreed work – which is especially useful when a machine travels across borders.

Repair FAQ
Which ProSharp machines do you repair?
We repair and service the ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC and the ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SC skate sharpening machines – from minor faults to major breakdowns.
How is the repair price calculated?
Every machine is different, so we always start with a condition assessment. Based on it, you receive an individual quote that explains what we found and what we recommend. No work starts without your approval.
What if I decide not to go ahead with the repair?
You are free to decide after receiving the quote. Contact us for the details of returning a machine that has not been repaired.
Do I always need to send the whole machine?
Not always. If the problem is clear from your description and photos, a spare part may solve it. Send us the details first and we will advise you.
Do you repair machines from other countries?
Yes. We welcome orders from all over Europe. You send the machine to our Budapest workshop, and we return it after the repair. We communicate in English, preferably by email.
