Repair and Full Service
Which ProSharp machines do you repair?
We repair, service and maintain the ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC and the ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SC skate sharpening machines. We handle everything from minor faults and adjustments to major breakdowns and complete overhauls of machines that have been in use for many years.
What kind of faults do you repair?
Typical repairs include uneven or inconsistent sharpening results, skate holder and alignment problems, grinding wheel and dressing issues, motor and drive faults, noise and vibration, weak dust extraction, electrical faults and wear or damage after years of use or transport. If you are not sure what is wrong, describe what you notice and send photos – we will tell you the likely cause.
How does the repair process work?
You email us with your machine model, a description of the problem and photos. When the machine reaches our Budapest workshop, we carry out a condition assessment of the whole machine and send you an individual quote. After your approval, we repair the machine with parts from our own stock, test it and return it to you.
What is the difference between a repair and a full service?
A repair fixes the specific fault you came with. A full service goes through the whole machine – cleaning, checking and adjusting the grinding unit, skate holder, drive, dust extraction and electrical components, and replacing worn parts after your approval – so the machine is ready for another season of heavy use.
Do you repair sharpening machines from other brands?
We specialise in ProSharp skate sharpening machines – the AS2001 Allpro-SC and the AS1001 Portable-SC. That focus is what allows us to keep the right parts in stock and repair these machines quickly and reliably. If you have a different machine, contact us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Do you test the machine after the repair?
Yes. Every machine is tested before it leaves our workshop, so it is ready to use when it arrives back with you.
Is it worth repairing an old machine, or should I buy a new one?
In most cases, repairing is the better choice. ProSharp machines are built to work for many years, and their components can be serviced and replaced individually. The condition assessment shows you what a repair involves, and if we believe a repair would not be worth it, we tell you honestly.
ProSharp Machines
What is the difference between the AS2001 Allpro-SC and the AS1001 Portable-SC?
The AS2001 Allpro-SC is the machine for a fixed sharpening place such as a pro shop, rink or club sharpening room – easy to use, cheap to maintain and built to last. The AS1001 Portable-SC is designed to travel with a team to away games, tournaments and camps. Both deliver precise results, but they wear in different ways and need slightly different care.
Can you service an older or second-hand ProSharp machine?
Yes. Many ProSharp machines are still in use after many years, and quite a few are bought second-hand. A full service is the best first step for a used machine: we assess its condition, tell you what needs attention now and what can wait, and bring it back to reliable working order.
Do you sell new sharpening machines?
We help customers choose a skate sharpener that suits their needs and provide professional support after the purchase. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Spare Parts
Do you have spare parts in stock?
Yes. We keep our own supply of spare parts for the ProSharp AS2001 and AS1001. This means repairs can usually start as soon as you approve the quote, without waiting for parts to be delivered.
Can I buy spare parts without sending in my machine?
Yes. You can order parts directly. Send us your machine model, the serial number if you have it, and the name, number or a photo of the part. We will identify the correct part and send you an offer.
How do I know which part I need?
You don’t need to be a technician. Send several photos – the part, the area around it and the whole machine – and describe the problem. A short video of a noise or movement helps a lot. If we think the cause is something other than the part you asked about, we tell you before you order.
Can I fit the part myself?
Some parts, such as filters or a grinding wheel, are often replaced by experienced operators. Parts that affect alignment, the drive or the electrical system are best fitted by a technician. If you prefer, send us the machine and we will fit the part as part of a repair or service. Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before replacing any part.
Maintenance
Why does a sharpener need regular maintenance?
Every pair of skates causes a little wear – on the grinding wheel, the holder, the drive and the dust extraction. Regular maintenance catches this gradual wear before it causes a breakdown or poor edges. It extends the life of the machine, keeps edge quality consistent and is almost always cheaper than an unplanned repair.
How often should my machine be maintained?
It depends on how much it is used. A professional check at least once a year – ideally before the season – is a good minimum. Machines that run every day, and portable machines that travel every week, benefit from more frequent checks. Tell us how your machine is used and we will recommend a rhythm.
What can I do myself between services?
Remove grinding dust daily, check the dust extraction regularly, keep the skate holder clean, dress the grinding wheel when needed and pay attention to any new noise, vibration or change in edge quality. Transport portable machines in their protective case.
Will I get a record of what was done?
Yes. The quote explains what we found and what we recommend, and after the work you know exactly what was repaired or replaced. This history makes future services faster and helps you plan.
We are a skate shop or webshop. Can you help us avoid downtime?
Yes. For shops and webshops, sharpening is often what brings customers back, so downtime means lost sales. We recommend a service before your busiest season, a small reserve of key wear parts such as a grinding wheel or filter, and contacting us as soon as results change – not when the machine stops.
Can you maintain all of our club’s machines?
Yes. Many clubs and organisations have all their ProSharp machines maintained by us. Sending them one at a time means a sharpener is always available for your teams, and because we know each machine’s history, every service is faster and more accurate.
Customers Outside Hungary
Do you accept machines from other countries?
Yes. We welcome orders from all over Europe, and many of our foreign clients come back to us again and again. Customers send their machine to our workshop in Budapest, and we return it after the repair.
How do I send my machine to you?
Email us first, so we can give you first advice and confirm the delivery address. Pack the machine carefully – ideally in its original box or case, with plenty of padding – and send it with a tracked and insured shipment. We explain the details for your country when we reply.
Is it really worth sending a machine to Budapest?
For many customers, yes. They get specialist work from a team with more than 20 years of experience, original parts from our own stock and a price that is often lower than manufacturer service in their own country – even after shipping. Request a quote and compare.
Can I bring my machine to you in person?
Yes. If you are in or near Budapest, you are welcome to bring the machine to our workshop at Nefelejcs utca 16., 1161 Budapest, and collect it after the repair. Please contact us first to agree on a time.
Will you let me know when my machine has arrived?
Yes. We let you know when the machine has arrived, and you receive the quote by email after the condition assessment. If we notice any transport damage on arrival, we tell you straight away and document it with photos.
How long does it take?
It depends on the shipping distance and the work needed. We give you an estimate together with the quote. If you have a deadline, such as the start of the season or a tournament, tell us in your first email.
Quotes, Payment and Contact
Why don’t you publish fixed repair prices?
Because two machines with the same symptom can need very different work. A fixed price would either be too high for a simple fix or would not cover a bigger problem. The condition assessment and individual quote mean you pay for what your machine actually needs – nothing more.
How much does a repair cost?
Every machine is different, so we don’t give fixed prices without seeing it. We always carry out a condition assessment first and then send you an individual quote that explains what we found, what we recommend and what it costs.
Will any work be done without my approval?
No. No work starts and no part is replaced until you have approved the quote. You can approve everything, choose only the most urgent items, or ask questions first.
What happens if I decide not to go ahead with the repair?
You are free to decide after receiving the quote. Please contact us for the details of returning a machine that has not been repaired.
How do I pay?
Payment details are included in the quote and invoice.
Do you give a warranty on repairs?
In which language can I contact you?
Our team communicates in English. Email (info@prosharpservice.com) is the best way to reach us – you can attach photos, and everything we agree is in writing. You can also call +36 20 932 4212.
Are you a certified ProSharp repairer?
Yes. We are a certified repairer for ProSharp skate sharpening machines, with more than 20 years of experience.
