Why Our Own Parts Supply Makes the Difference
The most common reason a sharpener stays out of action for a long time is not the repair itself – it is waiting for parts. A general workshop or a reseller often has to order each part from a distributor or the manufacturer, and delivery can take weeks. In the middle of the season, that means weeks without sharpening.
Because we keep our own supply of spare parts, the part your machine needs is in most cases already on the shelf in our workshop. For you, that means:
- Faster delivery of the parts you order directly
- Faster repairs, because work can start as soon as you approve the quote
- Immediate access to high-quality original parts instead of improvised alternatives
- Advice from technicians who fit these parts every day and know exactly what each one does
Our parts supply is the same one we use for our own repairs – so we know the parts, we know the machines, and we know which part solves which problem.
Spare Parts We Supply
We supply parts for both ProSharp models we specialise in. Typical part groups include:
Grinding wheels and dressing parts
The grinding wheel is the most important wear part of any sharpener. It wears with every pair of skates and must eventually be replaced to keep the right profile and consistent results. Dressing components that shape the wheel also wear over time.
Skate holder components
The holder keeps the blade straight and secure during sharpening. Worn or damaged holder parts lead directly to uneven edges, so replacing them in time is essential for quality.
Bearings, belts and drive components
Long running hours gradually wear the moving parts that drive the machine. Replacing them before they fail prevents noise, vibration and more expensive damage.
Dust extraction and filter parts
Filters, hoses and other dust extraction parts keep grinding dust out of the machine and away from the operator. Clogged or damaged parts reduce suction and speed up wear inside the machine.
Electrical components
Switches, cables, plugs and other electrical parts – especially important for the portable AS1001, which is plugged in at a different venue every week.
Covers, housing and small parts
Covers, fastenings, knobs and other small parts that are easily lost or damaged, particularly during transport.
Parts for the AS2001 and the AS1001
ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC
The AS2001 often runs for long hours in a pro shop or rink, so its wear parts – especially the grinding wheel, holder components, drive parts and dust extraction parts – need replacing regularly. Keeping it supplied with the right parts is the key to its long working life. ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC service
ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SC
The AS1001 travels with teams, so besides normal wear parts it often needs holder and mounting components, cables, plugs, switches and housing parts that suffer from transport. ProSharp AS1001 Portable-SC service
When Should a Part Be Replaced?
Most parts give a warning before they fail completely. Knowing the signs helps you order in time:
- Grinding wheel – edges take more passes to get sharp, the profile is no longer consistent, or the wheel has visibly worn down
- Skate holder parts – the blade has play in the holder, or edges come out uneven from one side to the other
- Bearings and drive parts – new noises, humming or vibration that was not there before
- Filters and dust extraction parts – more dust in and around the machine, weaker suction
- Cables, plugs and switches – the machine cuts out, only works when the cable is moved, or a switch feels loose
- Covers and small parts – cracks, missing fastenings or parts that no longer sit firmly
Replacing a worn part early is almost always cheaper than waiting. A worn bearing, for example, can put strain on other drive components if it is left too long – turning a small part order into a larger repair.
Why Quality Parts Matter
It can be tempting to save money with the cheapest part available. On a precision machine like a ProSharp sharpener, that usually backfires. A part that does not fit exactly, or wears out after a few weeks, affects edge quality, puts extra strain on the rest of the machine and means paying for the same repair twice.
We supply high-quality original parts – the same ones we fit in our own repairs. They fit as they should, last as they should, and keep your machine performing the way it was designed to.
How to Order Spare Parts – Step by Step
Ordering the right part is easy, even if you don’t know its name or number:
1. Identify your machine
Tell us whether you have an AS2001 Allpro-SC or an AS1001 Portable-SC. If you can, add the serial number from the machine’s type plate and its approximate age – some parts may differ between production years.
2. Describe or photograph the part
If you know the part name or number, send it to us. If not, simply take a photo of the part, or of the area of the machine where it sits, and describe what it does or what is wrong with it.
3. Receive your offer
Our technicians identify the correct part and send you an offer with the price and availability. If we think the problem may be caused by something other than the part you asked about, we tell you – it saves you buying a part you don’t need.
4. Confirm and receive the part
Once you confirm the order, we send the part to you. Payment and shipping details are included in the offer.
Not Sure Which Part You Need?
That is completely normal – most sharpener owners are not technicians, and they don’t need to be. A few tips make identifying the right part easier:
- Take several photos – the part itself, the area around it and the whole machine
- Show the problem – a short video of a noise or a movement often says more than a description
- Include a sharpened blade in a photo if the problem is edge quality
- Mention what happened – did the part break suddenly, wear gradually, or fail after transport?
- Don’t guess – if you are not sure, describe the symptom and let us find the cause
Sometimes a symptom that looks like one broken part is actually caused by wear somewhere else in the machine. In that case, a condition assessment in our workshop may be the better option – and we will tell you honestly. Repair and full service
Keep a Few Wear Parts at Hand
For clubs, rinks and shops that sharpen every day, it can make sense to keep a small stock of the most important wear parts – for example a spare grinding wheel or filter. When a part reaches the end of its life on a busy weekend, it can be replaced immediately, without waiting for a delivery.
We are happy to advise which parts are worth keeping in reserve for your machine and how much you use it. Combined with regular maintenance, this is the most reliable way to keep your sharpener running through the whole season. Sharpener maintenance
Fit It Yourself – or Let Us Do It
Some parts, such as filters or a grinding wheel, are often replaced by experienced operators themselves. Others – especially parts that affect alignment, the drive or the electrical system – are best fitted by a technician, because a small mistake can affect edge quality or safety.
If you prefer not to fit a part yourself, send us the machine and we will fit it as part of a repair or service. As always, we start with a condition assessment and send you an individual quote before any work begins. Customers from abroad can find out how to send a machine here: How to send your machine
