One Company, Two Specialist Businesses
Hockey World Kft. runs two closely connected businesses from Budapest:
- WilliSport – the retail side: stores and an online shop for ice hockey and figure skating equipment, plus skate sharpening and related services for skaters.
- ProSharp Service – the technical side: repair, full service, maintenance and spare parts for ProSharp AS2001 Allpro-SC and AS1001 Portable-SC skate sharpening machines, for customers across Europe.
The two businesses share more than a company name. Our ProSharp Service workshop is located at Nefelejcs utca 16. in Budapest – the same address as one of the WilliSport stores. The knowledge flows both ways: what we learn from sharpening thousands of pairs of skates in our stores helps us repair and maintain sharpeners, and what we learn in the workshop keeps our own store machines in perfect condition.
For ProSharp machine owners, this is a rare combination. Many repair shops know machines; many sports shops know skates. Our Story
WilliSport grew out of a passion for skating and a simple observation: hockey players and figure skaters in Budapest needed a place where they could get specialist equipment, honest advice and reliable service under one roof. Over the years, the business expanded from a single shop to several stores across the city, each located where skaters are – close to rinks, clubs and training centres.
Alongside the stores, skate sharpening became one of WilliSport’s core services. Sharpening is something every skater needs regularly, and doing it well requires both skill and well-maintained machines. Working with ProSharp sharpeners every day gave the team deep, practical knowledge of these machines – and that knowledge became the foundation of ProSharp Service, which today has more than 20 years of experience in servicing skate sharpening machines and serves customers far beyond Hungary.
Today, WilliSport serves skaters of all levels: children taking their first steps on the ice, youth players in Hungarian hockey clubs, adult recreational players, competitive figure skaters and the coaches, parents and equipment managers who support them.

Hockey skates
The most important piece of equipment for any player. We offer hockey skates for beginners, youth players, intermediate and senior players. The right fit matters more than anything – a skate that is too big, too small or the wrong shape affects comfort, control and performance. Our staff help players find the right size and fit, and we also offer blade holders, replacement steel and other skate parts.
Hockey sticks
Sticks for every age group – youth, intermediate and senior – in different flexes, curves and lengths. Choosing the right stick depends on the player’s size, strength, position and style. We help players and parents understand the options, from a first stick for a young beginner to a high-performance stick for experienced players.
Protective equipment
Safety is non-negotiable in hockey. Our protective range covers everything a player needs:

Skate sharpening
Sharpening is WilliSport’s most-used service – and it is done on ProSharp machines. Hockey skates and figure skates have very different needs: hockey players often choose a specific hollow to match their weight, position and preferences, while figure skates require particular care because of the toe pick and the blade’s profile. Our staff help customers choose the right size and model for skates and protective equipment. For many hockey skates, heat moulding can improve the fit – ask in store whether it is available for your skate.

Starting hockey or figure skating can be confusing: which skates, which size, which protection is really necessary? We are happy to explain the basics and help families start the right way – without buying more than they need.
Hockey Skates vs Figure Skates – Why Sharpening Is Different
From the outside, all skate blades look similar. On the sharpener, they are very different jobs – and understanding the difference is part of what makes our team good at both sharpening skates and servicing sharpening machines.
Hockey skates are sharpened with a hollow – a slight groove along the blade that creates two edges. A deeper hollow gives more bite and grip for quick turns; a shallower hollow gives more glide and speed. Players often have a preferred hollow, and they notice immediately if it is not consistent. That consistency depends directly on the condition of the sharpening machine: the grinding wheel must be dressed to the right profile, and the blade must be held perfectly straight.
Figure skates have a toe pick at the front and a blade designed for jumps, spins and footwork. Sharpening them requires care so the toe pick is not damaged and the blade’s profile is preserved. Mistakes can affect a skater’s technique for weeks.
Doing both, every day, gives us an unusually detailed understanding of what a sharpening machine must deliver – and what happens when it does not.
